This privacy statement describes how we use data relating to anyone who registers with us to be a buyer or prospective buyer (“you” or “bidders”) via https://auction.marriottco.co.uk/ (“this website”) at an auction managed by us (“Auction/s”). “We” or “us” are Marriott Valuers Limited (t/a Marriott & Co.), a company incorporated in England under number 11235026 whose registered office is at 19 East Street, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7SD.

 

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 and only use any data supplied by you to us as set out in this Privacy Policy. By consenting to the terms of this Privacy Policy you are agreeing to be bound by this policy in respect of the information collected about you via this website.

 

If, on registration on this website, you have requested to be sent information regarding our sales and opportunities (“opt-in”) you will be sent emails informing you of any new sales we believe may be of interest to you. You can unsubscribe from receiving this information from us at any time by following the instructions at the footer of the marketing emails sent by us and responding to the email with the words ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ in the subject heading. You will then be removed from our auction database and we will not contact you again.

COLLECTION OF YOUR DATA

 

When you apply to register as a buyer at an Auction and whenever you provide updated details to us we will ask you for the following:

 

Your name

Company name (where applicable)

Company registration number (where applicable)

Company VAT number (where applicable)

Postal Address

Telephone numbers

Email address

How you heard about us?

 

You will also be asked to enter and confirm a password for your account. Your password is private to you and cannot be viewed by us. However, we may issue replacement passwords where necessary. Should we issue you with a replacement password, we ask that you reset your password on your subsequent login to something known only by you.

 

Marriott & Co. reserve the right to request further information, which may include sensitive personal and personal data, from you prior to allowing bidding. We will only do this when there are concerns over the validity of the information provided by you as a prospective buyer.

 

When registering the above details on this website there is a tick box enabling you to consent (or otherwise) to be emailed information regarding future sales and opportunities. We will not contact you, other than for service related purposes, if you have not provided said consent.

 

By registering as a buyer, you agree to supply us with information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and agree to inform us of any changes to the contact details you have supplied.

 

USE OF YOUR DATA

 

We use the information which you provide to us to enable us to monitor bids and individual bidders during our online auction sales, to notify you when you have been outbid or have been successful in an auction and to be able to invoice you if you are a successful purchaser and make necessary arrangements for appointments to collect or view items.

 

We may also use your data for security purposes or to contact you in the case of queries.

 

Due to the nature of our business, and for anti-money laundering purposes, we cannot allow you to bid or partake in any sales managed by us unless you supply us with the information we request.

 

If you have consented to receive emails from us notifying you of sales, we will contact you to inform you of future Auctions, Tenders or Private Treaty sales we believe may be of interest to you. We may also send you newsletters or surveys.

 

The data you supply will be retained by us in perpetuity, or until you request that your data be deleted by us (please see below ‘YOUR RIGHTS’), or if the company dissolves without a transfer of the intangible business assets to a new entity.

 

Where we receive unsolicited personal information that is not required for the above purposes, we will destroy the information received.

 

Marriott Valuers Limited do not sell, transfer or disclose your personal data to any other party not set out in this privacy policy without obtaining prior consent from you, other than in exceptional circumstances.

 

Exceptional Circumstances include dealing with fraud, credit risk, abusive online behaviour, to enforce rights, protect property, protect human safety, if the law required it, or if we were to sell or merge any part of our business.

CARD PAYMENTS

 

Buyers may pay for purchased items by debit card over the phone to approved members of staff. Some of your card data may be stored for a limited period for operational, regulative or legislative requirements. All use and storage of card data by Marriott & Co. is in compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. All cardholder’s data will be destroyed by cross-shredding.

This website is managed by online auction software provider Sensible Development Limited: http://www.sensibledevelopment.com/.  Data entered on this website is stored on secure servers, located in the UK.

 

Our IT services are provided by Wessex Networks Ltd: https://www.wessexit.com/home

 

Sensible Development Limited and Wessex Networks Ltd cannot use or transfer or disclose any of your data to a third party without prior consent from you to us.

 

We may also sometimes use Mailchimp, the marketing platform, to create and send out our marketing campaigns. Email addresses may be temporarily stored on our Mailchimp account at the time of the campaign. Their privacy policy can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

 

If our business enters into a joint venture with or is sold to or merged with another business entity, your information may be disclosed to our new business partners or owners. We purchase databases only for the purposes of business to business marketing.

 

SECURITY

 

We follow security procedures to ensure that your personal information remains confidential and safe. The computers that store the information are kept in a secure office, are only used by authorised members of staff and use secure firewalls and other measures to restrict electronic access. All information about you is password protected and will only be accessed by authorised members of staff for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

Any changes to the way in which we use your data will be described in a future version of this Privacy Policy, displayed on this website and emailed to you as a registered buyer. You will be able to withdraw your agreement with our Privacy Policy at this time.
